Today’s devotion is focused on boldness and access to the Throne. Yesterday we considered the character of God—love and light. He is our Mighty Warrior. I sense that some of us have forgotten who we are especially in this time and are moving forward into the future. People of God, we are in His army. He has especially equipped you all to be battle ready. The question you must ask yourself is whether you are ready. I, myself, thought I was there. You know, attending church and serving the body of Christ. Nope. Now God is calling me out, refining me with His Holy Spirit fire. There are both old thinking and stinkin’ thinking, and strongholds that will hinder me if I leave them as they are. They must go. God knows best. We must be trained up from the crown of our heads to the souls on our feet. Get prepared for continued surgery as the removal of those things that will not serve in the battle must be removed as we press forward to the call of Christ within us.
Our Father in Heaven. You are worthy of my praise. I give you the glory that is due Your Name. My offering is an offering of praise and my whole self. I come boldly into the courts, to the Throne of grace. Oh, how I worship You in the expansive beauty of all that You are. Continue to refine me and prepare me with Your word. Make my mind a sponge to grab hold of the Word that I will need as I swing the sword of the Spirit. I want to be battle ready in Your army. Open the Word of God afresh to me and others on boldness and how we are to walk in the Holy Spirit, humble, yet mighty and bold when needed. I submit this study and devotion to You. Open my eyes to see You moving in the scriptures as I read. I ask for Your continual forgiveness for where I have fallen short. And I release and forgive those who have sinned against me. Bring Your kingdom to Earth. Use me. In Jesus Name. Amen.
The word that begins our journey into boldness is in Ephesians 3:12 (NKJV) where it says, "in whom we have boldness and access with confidence through faith in Him." What an incredible gift the Father has given to us! Praise You, my Abba.
Boldness and Access to the Throne
I don’t know if you can imagine or realize the power in the word “access.” When I consider access to our loving Father, I think back to Adam and Eve with God and their relationship in the garden of Eden. I realize the adversary of our souls was destined to lure Eve. However, have you ever considered what it would have been like walking with God in the cool of the day? I remember a Bible study that asked that question. All I could think was… I want that. I want to walk with Him, having full access. How wonderful it must have been to be there in the garden with unrestricted beautiful access to walk with the Father before the fall of man.
Mercy in the Wilderness
In the wilderness, the tabernacle that was built had limited access and only for a few. As I am still reading in Numbers, I see this sweet fellowship that Moses has with the Father. Moses had many difficult situations, but these times with the stiff-necked, ungrateful Israelites kept Moses on his face before His God. God did not withhold His presence from Moses. Nor did God turn His back and walk away from His people in the wilderness. Like any parent, we see God’s heart breaking. He still desired access going beyond His relationship with Moses to establish Himself as the Holy God that He is with the people through the Aaronic priesthood. I can see God’s presence above the mercy seat. His mercy extended to us access to Him. The people failed to see Him as a loving God until the next step.
Grace and Love on the Cross – Permanent Access
God has never changed. He is the same, yesterday, today, and forever! His love was always there although at times during the rebellion of Israel, He chose to be silent. His prophets knew, the true prophets knew that He was sending the answer, the Christ, who would establish our access to our Father forever and ever.
In Romans 5:1-2 (NKJV), the faith we possess in Jesus, brings peace, His presence, and access. “Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom also we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God."
There is so much more that I can say about boldness and access. I will leave you with this… the gift of the Holy Spirit, given to us the moment we accept our Lord and Savior, produces a boldness to share the truth of the gospel. As in Acts 4:31, once filled the people were boldly proclaiming the Word of God.
So, with the boldness and access provided through the fullness of Jesus, "Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need." – Hebrews 4:16 (NKJV)
I praise the Lord with all my being for the fact that He sought to provide a way for our access to Him for all of eternity. My response is full surrender so that His access to all the gifts and the calling He has placed on my life can be realized and empowered by Him. Bold. Sold Out. Servant of God.
