Welcome to Day 10. I pray that this time of stepping away from distractions or whatever you are fasting is continuing to bless you. Let us pray.
Our Father in heaven. How I love You and all Your ways. I praise You for all that has been revealed about Your character and Your unconditional love for me. Your love causes me to see others through Your eyes, to minister and pray for them as I ought to, and not judge as my flesh has done in the past. Forgive me for where I have failed and sinned here. Please forgive those who have sinned or trespassed against me as well. I love the body of Christ, Your Bride, who You are coming for again. Give me Your understanding and wisdom as I write this devotional on Psalm 127. Praise You for the new manna from scripture as I sit at Your feet and read it. It seems like the first time. I surrender all thoughts for Your thoughts are higher than mine. Your ways are greater than mine. Your word is like honey and nourishes my soul. I declare the Truth of who I am in You. I am fearfully and wonderfully made by my Creator. I shall seek You in all things. I need You. I am nothing without You, my Savior and my Redeemer. Please keep me protected as I take time with You. I give You praise and glory for all You are. In Jesus Precious Name. Amen.
When this psalm dropped into my spirit today, I knew there was something special that we all were going to see. I pray that this devotion blesses and challenges you as it has me.
Psalm 127 (NKJV) says,
Unless the Lord builds the house, They labor in vain who build it;
Unless the Lord guards the city, The watchman stays awake in vain.
It is vain for you to rise up early, To sit up late, To eat the bread of sorrows; For so He gives His beloved sleep.
Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord, The fruit of the womb is a reward. Like arrows in the hand of a warrior, So are the children of one’s youth. Happy is the man who has his quiver full of them; They shall not be ashamed, But shall speak with their enemies in the gate.
"Unless the Lord builds the house, They labor in vain who build it."
Brothers and sisters, slow down and pray. The Lord is calling us to wait on Him. At different points in my life, I have done this better than others. With a new ministry or business, it is easy to start using our capabilities and savviness. These are both ways to get into trouble. Not intentionally, but without God building it, we work in vain. I am deeply humbled of His desire to speak to each of us. For us to seek His counsel and wisdom. He desires that none of us go astray. We must ask for His direction. God, how I need You!
"Unless the Lord guards the city, The watchman stays awake in vain."
I need the omnipresence and omniscience of my God every day. The enemy of our souls is looking for a breach in our walks with the Lord, including our speech, lifestyle, and relationships with others. The rebuilding of the walls of Jerusalem come to mind as Nehemiah prays for the favor of God before going to King Artaxerxes. God granted Nehemiah’s request. King Artaxerxes gave everything needed to Nehemiah. The rebuilding of the walls began, but later in Nehemiah 4:9, there was a threat of attack on God’s people repairing the walls. Nehemiah and the people prayed to God for safety. He gave them a strategy for where to place the watchmen. God provided for the rebuilding of the walls and answered prayers for protection. God is waiting for us. He knows what we will ask before we ask it. Be bold and approach the Throne of grace. Remember to submit all that we have stewardship of our morning and evening prayers. He is faithful to watch over us and give us divine strategy as needed. Praise our loving and faithful Abba!
"It is vain for you to rise up early, To sit up late, To eat the bread of sorrows; For so He gives His beloved sleep."
Rest is a gift. He, himself, rested on the 7th day after making everything. He gave a Sabbath rest to His people in the wilderness. Rest, my brothers and sisters in the Lord, rest. Trust Him to redeem all time. He has given us rest for a reason. Our physical bodies and minds need to be recharged. There is healing that happens when we rest: cells renewed and so much more. This is why the Lord “gives His beloved sleep." May we have strength to rest in Him, the author and finisher of our faith. Enter into His rest.
"Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord, The fruit of the womb is a reward. Like arrows in the hand of a warrior, So are the children of one’s youth. Happy is the man who has his quiver full of them; They shall not be ashamed, But shall speak with their enemies in the gate."
Whether our quiver is full of natural children, adopted children, or spiritual children, or a combination of these, praise Him for the blessing that you have been given. Seeing His love through the eyes of a child reminds us to stay in our childlike wonder.
Fellow servants, my heart is touched by God's steadfast desire to provide, protect, and care for His people. This draws me into a position of reverence and humility. The beauty of our Lord as spoken about in Psalm 92:17 is all I can see. He is my vision. I can do nothing without Him. I sit at His feet and enjoy His beauty in worship and praise before moving. I remember there is no hurry. The enemy wants me to move quickly, so I get ensnared in my mind, physically, or financially. It is better to tarry than to be trapped by my vain plans and work. I am drawn back into His presence again to pray.
My holy and loving Lord. Please take my heart's desires and as far as it aligns with Your will, build the house, the ministry, the business. I give all that You have before me. Please establish the work of my hands in a way so that I know it is NOT me, but You who is supplying my every need. Please draw me closer to You that I may magnify You in all that I do. I give You honor, praise, and glory, forever and ever. In Jesus Name. Amen.
